Jackie Gebel’s No Leftovers is a trusted guide to the best restaurants, bars, culinary finds, hotspots, and happenings.

According to Jackie, eating well in L.A. doesn't have to be boring. Without further adieu, here are her best healthy restaurants in Los Angeles.

  • Dudley Market, located in Venice, California, offers hungry diners a premier retail/restaurant concept that focuses on fresh, healthy choices featuring ingredients from local purveyors and artisans. Make a reservation for brunch and fill up on Chef Jesse Barber's creamy avocado toast, or plan a picnic at the beach and take sandwiches and salads to go. Better yet, come for dinner and order the black risotto with briny sea urchin. Before heading home, stop at the beautiful display of dry goods and select a few of Chef Barber's favorite pantry items, artfully arranged in the front of the restaurant.

  • Local hotspot Gjelina has earned a devoted following of regulars, who come for traditional American dishes with a California twist. Ordinary dishes take on an innovative feel with delicious spices and unique combinations, such as the pizza with wild nettles and garlic confit. Home cooks can try to recreate Chef and owner Travis Lett's inspired recipes at home by checking out his cookbook, available on Amazon.

  • There’s something about ice cream that brings everyone together and delivers instant happiness. Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams goes a step further and takes our love for ice cream above and beyond. Whether you’re looking for a small sample or a 5-scooper, dive in and try their uniquely crafted flavors such as Churro, Candied Ginger, or Brambleberry Crisp.

  • Next time you're looking for a healthy restaurant option for a night out in Los Angeles, head over to Night + Market Song. Try delicious selections of Thai food such as savory soups, noodles, and hot pot! Perfect for everything from a lowkey date night, a family reunion, or a group outing with your squad, everyone feels right at home in the fun-loving and hip ambiance.

  • A trendy Italian restaurant, Bestia’s menu and decor are a perfect blend of rustic and modern! Try traditional Italian ingredients with an updated modern twist, like the sea urchin spaghetti rustichella. These dishes are so visually and tastefully creative, they always send taste buds to heaven!

  • The City of Angels is no stranger to sushi. Committed to perfection, Chef Kazunori Nozawa--owner of Sushi Nozawa, launched 'little-sister' casual chain restaurant, Sugarfish, over 8 years ago.  Today, Nozawa lists eleven Sugarfish across Los Angeles. With exacting standards and a commitment to quality, Sugarfish is the anti-chain that happens to have figured out how to replicate excellent sushi in each location.

  • Looking for a fiesta? Head to El Carmen’s Mexican Cantina for their specialty, the “El Perfecto Margarita!” Or kick it up a notch and opt for the Spicy Margarita, which includes a ‘¡Fuego!’ kick of fresh jalapenos. Pair them up with delicious flautas, tamales, and other Mexican goods. Health-conscious foodies can choose low-calorie drink options, while spicy-food lovers will enjoy their fresh, authentic guacamole and nachos.
