Let's visit today's LARGEST CRUISE SHIP to set sail, Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas!

The Symphony, which just set sail on its inaugural voyage from Barcelona, is officially the largest passenger ship--the biggest floating mega-resort ever to take to the seas! The 25th ship in Royal Caribbean's fleet, Symphony of the Seas weighs in at well over 200,000 tons, and measures 238 feet tall, about as tall as NYC’s flatiron building. The ship’s length reaches 1,188 feet, which is almost as long as the Empire State building is tall.

This floating mini-city on a ship is a larger version of Royal Caribbean's giant Harmony of the Seas, and boasts three main pool areas, a water park complex complete with a wave pool, an ice skating rink, two rock climbing walls, a basketball court, an indoor promenade with shops, and something that everyone will want to check out--an attraction called the "ULTIMATE ABYSS," the tallest slide ever constructed on a cruise ship.

Guests on board the Symphony will be super occupied all day long with so much to do, and they might actually get lost, since they have their pick of 18 separate decks and 24 elevators, all servicing 7 distinct neighborhoods. You can spend your morning at the mini-golf course, then go zip-lining or book a session at the glow-in-the-dark laser tag space, or just hang at the arcade all day. At night, take in the tony-awarding winning broadway show Hairspray, and then head over to the comedy club for some late night laughs or hit up any of the many dance parties to shimmy the night away.

The ship is also the most “instagrammable ship sailing across the seas,” and has a cast member who acts as the Symphony’s “Instagrammer in Chief,” actively helping guests take and post excellent ‘grams for the world to enjoy. Get smart-phone ready, because you’ll want to post every second of your time on-board.

Symphony of the Seas also boasts a bi-level, state-of-the-art family suite, appropriately called The Ultimate Family Suite. Standing at 2 decks high, the over 1,300 square foot suite is larger than most Manhattan apartments. This extravagant suite overlooks the ship’s promenade and golf course from the exclusive 17th deck, and includes a private cinema with an 85 in. HD television and gaming console, a LEGO wall, a balcony complete with a ping-pong table and whirlpool, and a slide connecting the children’s room to the main living area. The suite itself has two bedrooms and can sleep up to eight people. This uber luxe suite rents for $45,000 to $80,000 a week.

On top of the endless fun and luxury passengers will enjoy, the Symphony is 25% more fuel efficient than other ships in its class, thanks to its new streamlined design. There are no incandescent light bulbs on-board, which reduces the amount of air conditioning needed and aids in energy efficiency.

If you’re new to cruising or aren’t sure you’ll have enough to do on board, we’re pretty sure the Symphony of the Seas will keep you so entertained and busy on their 7 night journeys, that you’ll need to book several trips just to be able to enjoy all of the ships offerings.
