Amelia Earhart

One of the first buildings added to the Newark Airport was the Art Deco Building One, which served as the world's first modern airport terminal, complete with the first-ever airport restaurant and first modern air traffic control tower. At the building's opening and dedication, Amelia Earhart was present, playing a role in the ceramony.

This building, now only partially open to the public, is a great historical throwback (and #selfie location) during a long layover, due to its marble columns, reinforced concrete detailing, and many other Art-Deco-infused backdrops!

With thirty different airlines, three terminals, and about 35 million passengers each year, it’s safe to say that Newark Liberty International Airport is one of the busiest international airports in America. On your trip to New York, you may land in New Jersey - but your destination is still the Big Apple. Check out Travel Savvy’s list below, all about Newark Liberty Airport.
