Top Five Manhattan Flower Shops

By Travel Savvy

Regardless of the occasion, flowers are always the right gift. In town to meet your girlfriend’s mom for the first time? Bingo. Calling from out-of-town to impress someone? Yep. Maybe you’re just hoping to brighten up your desk, and a little glass jar of roses is all you need.

New York City urbanites are picky when it comes to florists--because the right nyc florist will know how to dazzle with perfect flower arrangements. For Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, Valentine’s or just because, we’ve named five of our favorite flower-peddlers here.

Owner Sandra de Ovando has been dazzling New York with her stunning talent since 2003, when she owned just one small floral boutique in the West Village. Since then, her empire has grown to include three retail shops in Manhattan and the Hamptons as well as a 2,500 square foot design studio where her team fulfills larger production projects for retail windows, corporate assignments and weddings. Celebrities love her work too; Adam Levine of Maroon 5 has been known to impress his Victoria’s Secret Angel, Behati Prinsloo with stunning Ovando bouquets.

Banchet’s working relationships with growers from all over the globe (including her family in Holland) means that her Manhattan flower shop often carries blooms not found elsewhere.

Parisians do it better--at least they do at Ode a La Rose. French florists Olivier Plusquellec and Louis Brunet launched this stylish shop after moving to New York City and finding no options for hand-tied bouquets that were at once simplistic yet elegant. This online-based shop custom creates each order, can handle your request for a same-day flower delivery, and provides you, the sender, with a photo of the arrangement before it leaves the shop.
