Experience Chicago's Lake Michigan

It might seem like Chicagoans are landlocked in the middle of the country, but Windy City residents manage to get out on the water much more than you think. Locals and visitors know that Lake Michigan's 22,400 square miles offer plenty of opportunity for fun on the water throughout the seasonal months.

In the warmer months, Chicagoans can head out for an up-close look at the Chicago shoreline on a kayak. Float your way along the city's shoreline alone or with friends, and hire a guide or go out on your own. Just don't forget to bring your sunscreen so you don't come back with a red nose.
