It's S P R I N G B R E A K! Time for some family fun in South Florida!
During Easter weekend, head to Zoo Miami’s ‘Great Egg Safari’ for a fun day of music, games, prizes, and of course, an old-fashioned Easter egg hunt for children 12 and under. Egg Safari entry is included with zoo admission, and will be a weekend-long event. Head over on Saturday or Sunday from 11 to 4 and also get your picture taken with the Easter bunny!
For even more beautiful wildlife, we recommend a visit to ‘Butterfly World’ which is just west of the turnpike on Sample Road in Coconut Creek. Stroll through the acres of indoor and outdoor gardens that are home to thousands of butterflies, hundreds of birds including hummingbirds, and much more! Before you go, print a $3 off general admission coupon from their website, which is good for up to 6 people per coupon.
Speaking of birds, we also love the Flamingo experience at the Palm Beach Zoo. Every day, at 12:30, guests can take part in feeding and walking with the zoo’s flock of Chilean flamingos. Note that this behind-the-scenes nature experience requires closed-toe shoes and an advance ticket purchase (not ncluded in zoo admission).
For a splashy good time and to escape the heat, let the kids run wild at Rapids Water Park in West Palm Beach. This park has been a local favorite since 1979, and attracts upwards of 400,000 visitors annually.
If you’re in town with younger children 10 and under, head to Sugar Sand Park in Boca. This municipal park offers more than a splash pad--the playground and the on-site carousel ride are both wheelchair accessible, and the park also offers a science exploratorium, a sports pavilion, nature trails and picnic areas. The best part -- coming to the park is free of charge for both residents and visitors! The carousel ride is just $1!
