Vancouver Dining: Asian Cuisine At Its Best

What do you get when you cross traditional Japanese flavors with the beloved comfort food that is the hot dog? An ingenious invention that you'll want to eat again and again, that's what. Japadog began in 2005 when an ambitious couple moved from Japan to Vancouver in the hopes of opening a famous food stand -- and they did. Today, they have five locations in Vancouver and two locations in California, each serving a delicious variety of their unique hot dogs. The winner of the dog show, though, is definitely their signature Terimayo hot dog, which features Teriyaki sauce, mayo and seaweed. You can pick it up at any of their locations.

Dumpling lovers -- head to the famous Vancouver thoroughfare, Robson Street, and make your way to Dinesty Dumpling House for a dish of doughy goodness. This popular eatery opened a flagship location in Richmond, Canada in 2006, then a 2nd one here in Vancouver in '13.

Passerbys can watch through the street window as chefs turn out tray after tray of skillfully made pot stickers and soup dumplings...the latter in particular. These little savory purses have consistently been praised by everyone from Eater to Open Table, and earned the Diners' Choice Award for "Best Xiao Long Bao." 

With three coveted Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards including "Best Upscale Chinese," "Best Dim Sum" and "Lifetime Achievement Award" under its belt, Kirin has established itself among the best in fine Chinese Cuisine. Their first location opened its doors in Downtown, Vancouver in 1987 and has been serving up Northern Chinese Cuisine with an emphasis on fresh local seafood ever since.
