Open most Mondays through Saturdays.

The Nuyorican Poets Cafe is one of New York City's hidden gems! For over 40 years, it has not only served as a home for poetry, jazz, theater and hip-hop, but it has also also given a voice to minority and underprivileged artists who use the spoken word as a form of social empowerment. Guests are invited to witness and partake in various forms of entertainment, including: poetry slams, open mics, Latin Jazz and Hip Hop concerts -- to name a few! Ticket prices range from as little as $8 to $20, or more if you want to splurge on a T-shirt!

The cost of living in New York City adds up fast! Between your daily 'double shot capps' and transportation fees, it can be hard to scrape together a budget for fun things to do around NYC. However savvy locals know that there are a handful of cost-effective options perfect for those who are looking for entertainment that won't break the bank. Check out our four favorites!
