Think Croatia's Museum of Broken Relationships was a mindbender? Wait until you see the Chichu Art Museum, located inside (yes, inside) the island of Naoshima, the famous 'art island' of Kagawa Prefecture, Japan.

Designed by famed architect Tadao Ando and built almost entirely underground to avoid destorying the island's beautiful, au natural landscape, Chichu aims to reexamine the complex relationship between nature and people. It's permanent exhibition prominently features nature-heavy artwork by Claude Monet, James Turrell, and Walter De Maria.

We all have heard of The Louvre in Paris and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, but there are dozens of stunningly epic museums around the globe that, year after year, go undiscovered by the common tourist.

These attractions are truly hidden gems in their own right, and we'd like to share our favorites with you! From France to Japan, we’ve rounded up some of the most notable museums you must visit!
